ToolsThere are a number of programs that I use to make sites. Joomla!
The basic, underlying "program" is Joomla!, which is a Content Management System that is free and Open Source. Free means less cost to my clients because they don't buy software. Open Source means all of the code is freely available to be perused, used, and improved upon or changed by anyone. To my clients, the use of a CMS means that simple site updates like adding an article, a blog post, a new menu choice, photos, and so on, are as easy as using a word processor and can be done from any computer with a web browser and internet access - without my help, time, and cost. Adobe Fireworks and Photoshop Although Joomla! takes care of all of the background functions needed to deliver a website, presentation and customization still require photo manipulation. I've chosen two tools that do incredible things with photos. Adobe Fireworks is a program that is specifically designed to aid web designers in photo preparation and customization. Adobe Photoshop is the undisputed king of digital photo manipulation. I have both and know how to use them well. Adobe Dreamweaver Adobe Dreamweaver is a long-standing champion of web design tools. Many things on the sites I make are created using Joomla!, but some of the finer changes and creative points are still aided by this time-tested, very powerful program.
